9 Melicoccus bijugatus Makiki Valley, on trail near parking lot. Shady dry mesic, mature trees are full sun canopy trees. Associated; Dolichandra unguis-cati, Leucaena leucocephala, Asparagus ethiopicus. Preserved_Specimen Plants diecous. New growth flushing light green and typically limp. Tap root extremely brittle only 1 female tree most mauka tree in pop., closest to main trail, plant seems to be reproducing via seed and sucker not sure. Petioles typically winged very consistently in seedlings, reducing on more mature trees. No sap present with broken petioles.
